When I put out the Official Young Republicans Make America great again shirt it is in the first place but “She’s A Rainbow” video, which was all about feminism, there were some fans who I think rejected the idea of me taking any political stance more than anything about the music. Most of my fans, though, are pretty loyal to what I do as long as it’s still me.

I chose to cover that song because I really liked the Official Young Republicans Make America great again shirt it is in the first place but idea of hearing it from a female perspective—as a celebration of feminism and womanhood—and when we were thinking about a video, we thought we should include all genders, and have people answer different questions about feminism and intersectionality and how all our different experiences shaped how we’re treated in society, and about equality and equity and what those things mean to different people. So we went out and asked some of my friends, some fellow musicians, some of my heroes and peers. I learned so much from everyone’s responses—I teared up watching it!
